Birgitta Bennecke I worked in various jobs i.e. secretarial, cabin crew etc. before eventually putting paint brush to various objects of decoration. So, I am largely a self-taught painter. Growing up in Japan was an artist's haven and I was lucky to have parents who invested in beautiful pieces of art which I believe began my artistic journey. However, it wasn't until I moved to Brazil where I made my home for 29 years, that I found myself surrounded by vibrant colours which then encouraged me to take up painting. Over the years, the culture, the climate, the people and those wonderful colours then influenced my style of painting. I had my own shop/studio in Sao Paulo where I sold my work and also took part in various exhibitions and art fairs. I am now looking to bring some South American colour to the UK after relocating to Brighton, England's rainbow city. |
